MINI Paceman Adventure Truck Concept

Mini's newest creation, in concept form, has been officially unveiled, though the company isn't saying much about what's inside. Surely though, it's unusual look is enough to stir up some conversation. The MINI Paceman Adventure Truck Concept takes the mini in a new direction, this concept's body style inspired by a truck. While there are no plans to turn the Adventure into a production model, it's definitely a fun way to bring attention to the brand. The Mini Paceman Adventure pick-up was a creative collaboration between instructors and apprentices at two of BMW's European plants, aimed at demonstrating the talent among the BMW Group's apprentices. They started by using a MINI Cooper S Paceman as their base model and transformed the car into a two-seater with a pick-up style cargo area. Taking it to a level where the vehicle looks as if it could handle just about anything, they included all-wheel drive, a 1.6-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and modified the suspension.

Two Surprises From MINI

After the MINI brand was reinvented by BMW, several versions of the same car have been released: the Cooper, Paceman, Countryman and so on. While not identical, each of these versions carries the same MINI styling, with it's big round headlights, small chrome grill and chunky stance. It looks like that mold will change. Indeed, MINI has recently introduced two concepts, one of which appears to be on it's way to potential success. First, the MINI Vision Superleggera is a small, two-seater roadster with a silhouette that defies traditional MINI styling. MINI says that the concept "elegantly perpetuates what the Classic Mini started 55 years ago: reduction to the essentials. Its energetic, minimalistic design embodies the dynamic essence of an automobile. At the same time it creates unique emotional beauty in combining the past and future of the automotive industry, i.e. traditional coachwork craftsmanship and modern design styling."

Shake Up At Mini

BMW's Mini division is considering some big changes in the near future. As it ponders the future of it's small car line-up, it's thought that the company will end production of some of it's current models. Don't worry, the brand's core models, the Mini Cooper Hardtop and the Cooper Countryman will be here for a long time; but the other Mini models are less secure, likely to be replaced once they reach the end of their product cycle. During an interview at the 2013 New York Auto Show, the Mini U.S.A.'s vice president Jim McDowell said that while models will be replaced, "we won't replace every model exactly." The brand has evolved from two models to the current seven, and is gearing up to start the next generation of Minis in a year's time.
